Sofiia Kosar is a joint Postdoctoral Researcher in the SPECTRE group and the group of Prof. Achim Hartschuh at LMU Munich. Her research focuses on understanding the microscopic landscape of emerging energy materials, including perovskite thin films and self-assembled monolayers. She employs correlative microscopy to identify nanoscale and microscopic heterogeneities and understand their influence on material properties, device performance and stability. Her research interests also include investigating energy level alignment, electronic structure and chemical composition of energy materials and their interfaces using photoelectron spectroscopy.
She received her PhD from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Keshav Dani. She subsequently joined the group of Prof. Stefaan De Wolf at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology as a Postdoctoral Researcher (2023-2026). In May 2026, she joined the Department of Chemistry at LMU Munich.
